Meet our Club Coach - Calum Curtis-Mcdonald
Hi everyone!
My name is Calum Curtis-Mcdonald. I’m really excited to have joined the Castlemaine Lawn Tennis Club since moving to the area in 2025 and am enjoying continuing to see the sport grow!
A bit about me - I’m a country boy at heart. I was born in country Victoria and am enjoying living back in greener pastures having spent the last few years in Melbourne and London! You don’t see many lawn courts in these cities!
I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone at the Club. Coaching has been a great success so far. We’ve run holiday clinics, trips to Melbourne and other country clubs, have started great initiatives such as cardio tennis and before school tennis, and have established some regular lessons for kids and adults. Thank you so much to everyone who keeps coming along!
We are looking forward to adding even more programs this year, including squads, parent classes, drop-ins and sessions specifically for teenage girls. We’ll also be running more holiday clinics and organising more trips to Melbourne and other clubs.
To make bookings even easier, please visit my own website: dropshottenniscoaching.com.au or email me at info.dropshottennis@gmail.com or call or text me on my mobile 0448 009 960.
Thanks again for all your support!

Life Membership - Bryan Fitzgerald
The Committee unanimously made the nomination and at a special general meeting club members granted Bryan Fitzgerald life membership of the Castlemaine Lawn Tennis Club.
Bryan has been a member of the Club for over 40 years and has held many roles within it, including being a committee member and in recent decades, as the lead organiser of the Monday night social tennis competition. He has represented the club at local and regional competitions on many occasions and is a regular team member of the Castlemaine team at the annual Tennis Victoria Country Week tournament. He also has a long history of representing Castlemaine in both regional singles and doubles competitions.
Bryan has also won the club’s Open Championship on seven occasions. As a highly experienced player, Bryan has a traditional approach to court etiquette by reserving his emotions when the competition is fierce but providing a more relaxed and fun environment when play has ended. For many years Bryan has opened the courts/clubrooms and remained long after his matches until all social activities have concluded to ensure that the club, courts and administrative aspects have been finalised appropriately. His diligence, integrity, friendliness and leadership is valued and has also been truly proven.
The Monday night crew celebrated Bryan before playing in the comp to try and win the honour of having their names added to the new ‘Bryan Fitzgerald’ Shield.
Thank you, Bryan, for all that you continue to do for our club – one of the nicest blokes you’ll ever meet!
